Writing this Article a thought has occurred to me hundreds maybe thousands of readers are about to make a decision based on what I write here. Maybe I am being a little to optimistic, unfortunately the question still remains with tastes changing as they are is beef jerky dying.
Well firstly you would find that for some of the die hard jerky addicts beef jerky will never die, and with the growth and competition in the market there is always a new jerky for them to savior.
The real grit of this article is how beef compares to some of the other types of jerky and in particular camel jerky. Camel jerky is currently made in the northern territory of Australia from wild camels. It is one of the new jerky’s that is in fact giving the old beef a run for its money.
A fact that could be over looked is that on many measures camel jerky is a healthier and better for you meat. Because of where it is reared it has less chemicals and is a much leaner meat, a dry harsh environment will do this to an animal.
Camel has an amazing taste that is lots more flavorsome than most beef and gives another taste experience that if followed would certainly give you a valid alternative, also it will grow on you perhaps creating beef jerky doubts.
Just because of the extreme difference in animal it does not make this type of jerky an acquired taste it is definitely closer to main stream then many of the newer flavors on offer.
Looking at the recent growth in Camel jerky and the growing Availability will it ever knock of the old favorite as the snack of choice for Jerky connoisseurs.
The answer is NO, beef jerky is definitely here to stay, but you must get out and try some of the new things the great jerky cooks are making specifically camel jerky you will be happy you did.
